Built by the Sulivane Family in 1790, this architectural gem is located in the East New Market Federal Historic District. In fact, the entire town has been designated as an historic district! Liberty Hall is beautifully sited on 1.72 acres and boasts 18th century brickwork known as American Common Bond. The house is distinctive and unusual in that the placement of the entrance is at the gable end of the house facing Main Street. Additionally, the kitchen wing is placed on the same axis as the Main House so as to form a varied composition. Unlike most houses of this era, Liberty Hall has never been "remuddled". It retains the original layout in addition to including the flooring, the 18th century 3 story-stringer staircase, interior first-floor shutters and federal wainscoting. Liberty Hall...later called The Edmondson House... is extremely impressive as it boasts a large well-proportioned Ballroom to the left of the principal entrance. The long windows in the Ballroom extend almost to the floor. The Ballroom fireplace is graced by a particularly delicate mantle with a tray molding. Behind the Ballroom is a side entrance to the yard as well as to the utility room and powder room. To the right of the Ballroom is a beautiful first floor en-suite entered from the main hallway.
